Blauvelt, New York is a hamlet found in Orangetown, Rockland County. This census designated place has a population of about 5,700 residents, and it is located north of Tappan between Orangeburg and Pearl River. Blauvelt has previously been known as Greenbush and Blauveltville, and the current name came from Dutch explorer Abraham Blauvelt.

With varied weather conditions throughout the year, it is crucial that Blauvelt area residents take time to prepare their homes. The region receives about 45 inches of precipitation per year, and much of this is received during the late spring months. With the temperatures warming up, this a good time for residents to prepare their home air conditioning units for the upcoming summer months, as conditions will quickly dry out and heat up. In fact, the hottest month of July has high temperatures that can reach well into the mid-80s or even higher.

The autumn months in Blauvelt are usually pleasant and warm, with average highs in the low-60s during October. Before the cold and snowy winter begins, it is always a good idea to have heat pump or furnace systems inspected for efficiency, especially because the area can see freezing temperatures and well over three feet of snow each season. By planning ahead, residents can ensure that their home and families are well protected during these frigid months.
