This census designated place is located between Central Nyack and Nanuet just north of Blauvelt, and it is home to about 3,500 residents. West Nyack was originally known as Clarksville and was also renamed Mont Moor before receiving its current name in 1891. West Nyack is home to several attractions that might appeal to both visitors and residents. The Palisades Center is the most popular shopping destination in the area, and in addition to this shopping mall, specialty shops in the area include Penzey’s Spices, Linda’s Chocolates, and Fuzzwigs Candy Factory. Other notable attractions in the community include Levity Live Comedy Club, AMC Palisades 21, and Mystery Room West Nyack.

The weather in West Nyack will vary with the changing of the seasons.  Summer months are hot and humid, and average high temperatures reach the mid-80s. It tends to be quite dry during these months and conditions can become uncomfortable without the right climate controls – even dangerous. A new central air conditioning unit can keep interiors comfortable while protecting residents from heat-related illnesses.

Residents who want to avoid property damage as a result of freezing temperatures will want to ensure that their heat pump or furnace is working properly. With an average of 44 inches of snowfall each year and temperatures that often fall below freezing, these conditions can be extremely dangerous – both to people and to properties. The right climate controls can make all the difference in how well residents make it through this season.
